How to install a Yono APK on Android

Step-by-step Android installation guide for Yono apps, including enabling Install unknown apps for the browser or file manager you use to open the APK.

Most Yono apps ship as an APK file you open from your browser or file manager. This guide walks through the install on Android 7.0 to 14 without using the Play Store.

Before you start, confirm the developer name listed on the app page. The directory records the developer, the current version, the file size and the Android requirement on each listing, so you can verify those numbers against the APK you downloaded.

Step 1: download the APK from the developer link listed on the app page. Avoid mirror sites that re-host the file under a different name.

Step 2: open Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps. Pick the browser or file manager you used to download the APK and toggle Allow from this source on.

Step 3: open the APK from your notification shade or Downloads folder. Tap Install and wait for the install dialog to complete.

Step 4: open the app. The first launch may take longer than usual because Android pre-loads the cache. Subsequent launches are faster.

If installation fails, the most common causes are: the Install unknown apps toggle is off, the APK was renamed, or the Android version is below the app's minimum requirement. The app page lists the Android requirement so you can confirm compatibility before installing.
